Welcome to Embodied Earth Ecotherapy.Ecotherapy is an invitation to reconnect with ourselves through relationship with the natural world. Rather than simply spending time outdoors, it involves intentionally slowing down, noticing, sensing and engaging with the more-than-human world around us. Spending time in nature this way helps to regulate our nervous system, reduce stress and anxiety, lower blood pressure, restore attention, improve motor and memory skills, build confidence, foster social relationships and boost psychological as well as physical wellbeing.Through practices such as mindful walking, sensory awareness, nature meditation, sit spots and reflective exploration, ecotherapy (also known as nature based therapy) can create space for greater presence, perspective, belonging and wellbeing.
About Amy
Amy Dillon is a nature based wellbeing practitioner and Ecotuner based in the beautiful Meander Valley region in northern Tasmania. She holds an Advanced Accreditation in Nature Based Therapy, training with Kit Kline through Nature Based Therapy, and is an Ecotuner with the International Society of Ecopsychology, training in ecotherapy with Dr Geoff Berry through Nature Calling. She believes deeply that we are all extensions of the Earth and animated by the breath of the Spirit, with our identity grounded in both earthiness and divine relationship. We are soul-embodied expressions of a vast living story that reaches back through countless generations and, ultimately, to the origins of the universe. Alongside all other beings, humans are part of the body of the Earth: sensing, experiencing, loving and witnessing the world around us. Our connection with the natural world is both an innate human capacity and a birthright, and every day, we are invited to explore, tend and deepen our sacred communion with the living Earth. This task is especially urgent in an epoch of biodiversity loss and climate break-down, where we must awaken, act and bear humble witness to these times.Amy's approach is also informed by a celtic worldview, reflecting her ancestral connections to Ireland, Scotland and England, and her passion for the folk traditions and pre-industrial life ways of her forebears. This celtic spirit quietly weaves its way through her relationship with nature and her facilitation, with dedicated Celtic Seasonal Journey experiences available for those wishing to explore this dimension more deeply. Watch this space for Celtic Tree Connections workshops in 2027, where you will be invited to explore twelve sacred celtic trees with Amy over the course of a year. Her current offerings include individual and small-group nature-based wellbeing experiences, as well as free and accessible community sessions.Amy's work is offered as nature-based wellbeing and is not counselling or psychological therapy. Please get in touch if you require nature-based mental health services and Amy can recommend some aligned providers.

FAQs
WHAT DOES A NATURE BASED WELLBEING SESSION LOOK LIKE?
A typical session could incorporate guided mindfulness practices such as sensory walks and nature meditation, creative reflection such as writing, drawing or sharing, found-object art making or nature based imaginative/visualisation games and activities. All sessions are an invitation to connect with nature, not a mandate to connect, and you are welcome to participate in all, some or none of the activities offered. Amy honours autonomy and allows participants full sovereignty over their experience.WHAT SHOULD I WEAR/BRING TO THE SESSION?
- Clothing that is appropriate for the season and the weather: a jacket, beanie and gloves for winter, a sun hat and sunscreen/long sleeves for summer, raincoats and gumboots for rain
- Closed-toe & comfortable footwear
- A bottle of water
- Any medical devices you may require (asthma puffer, epipen etc.)WHERE ARE SESSIONS HELD?
Amy prefers to make use of accessible gardens, public park space and nature reserves suitable for persons of all abilities (such as Deloraine Riverside Reserve, the Rotary Wild Woods, the Westbury Green and Westbury Common) but also loves to facilitate at slightly more adventurous or further afield locations such as Liffey Falls Reserve, the Tasmanian Arboretum or the Emu Valley Rhododendron Gardens. When booking an individual or group session, Amy will work with you to find the perfect setting for your abilities, convenience and wellbeing goals. For 1:1 online video calls, your own garden, balcony or local park are perfect.WHAT IF IT IS RAINING OR WINDY?
Rain and wind are wonderful invitations from nature to lean into some mild physical discomfort and feel gratitude for life-giving sky water and invigorating breezes! Sessions will still go ahead, even if there is predicted rain or wind. In the case of a severe weather event, sessions will be rescheduled.IS THERE SCIENTIFIC EVIDENCE FOR THE BENEFITS OF ECOTHERAPY?
Yes! Ecotherapy/nature based therapy is supported by a growing body of evidence-based research that suggests spending time in nature can support mental and physical wellbeing, including reducing stress and anxiety, improving mood, and promoting attention and overall wellbeing. Research also suggests that exposure to phytoncides, natural compounds released by trees and other plants, may support relaxation, reduce stress, and influence immune function, triggering a powerful, long-lasting boost in the anti-cancer proteins in the body's natural killer (NK) cells.Government-backed and nationally organised prescribing programs operate in New Zealand, United Kingdom, Canada, Japan, Sweden and the US, with regional trials and pilot schemes currently operating in Australia. Get in touch with Amy if you are a health professional and would like to learn more about green/nature prescriptions.
